It is always a pleasure to welcome Frank Harrison whether with Gilad Atzmon's acclaimed Orient House Ensemble or Frank Williams's African Jazz Quintet but especially with own very distinguished trio. He is undoubtedly one of the most talented young pianists on the UK circuit and in Europe.

Robin Jones is recognised as of one of the finest exponents of the Afro-Cuban jazz idiom and leads one of the premier jazz groups around today with many fine recordings to its name. We are delighted to welcome him and his fabulous sextet back to Fleece Jazz.

Many jazz clubs have struggled during the recession and some have had to close. Fleece Jazz are determined not to go the same way - so are staging a fund-raising day to secure the future of this wonderful club. We hope for the support of very best names in Jazz.

Confirmed so far are Gilad Atzmon, Alan Barnes, Paul Clarvis, Jim Hart, John Etheridge, Sarah Gillespie, Enzo Zirilli, Ben Bastin,Tina May, Nikki Iles, Roger Beaujolais, Alan Skidmore, Ian Palmer, Steve Melling, Derek Nash, Roger O'Dell, Damon Brown, Michael Spearman and Carole Burgess with more to come.

Michael and Carole Burgess went to London on Wednesday night, and collected our award. They had a great night, and we are very, very proud. It is 16 years of achievement awarded.

We have moved to Stoke by Nayland Club

As you probably know, we are now at Stoke by Nayland Club. The venue is excellent: accessible, both bar food and fine dining, lots of parking.
We had a stunning first gig is with Martin Taylor and Alison Burns.

We are here every Friday at 8pm with world class musicianship on show.
Do come see us in our new venue.

My wife is still in hospital, so Gerry reports:
"All was well,the band was good and about 50-60 in the audience.
The band wanted to play as near to acoustic as possible (the sax player asked me to physically remove his monitor) and didn't want a mic at all (I managed to persuade him to keep it nearby to give a bit of coverage behind him,as he was on the RHS of stage as viewed,pointing towards mid to LHS ,so one wing of the audience would have missed out)
Thus a quiet gig with a bit of piano and guitar FOH and no foldback...so it did leave me a bit of a spare ....but hey all seemed happy."

The other David says it was a great gig, much enjoyed. Not pushing the boat out, but a very nice boat to be in.

All reports on the restaurant have been very good indeed.
